Matt Tyrer
Head of Further Education and Acting Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions
As Head of Further Education, Matt is responsible for providing regional leadership, oversight and partnership support in the fulfilment of UHI’s responsibilities as the Regional Strategic Body for further education, and UHI’s Modern Apprenticeship regional consortium contracting.
As part of the university’s academic leadership Team Matt provides strategic development and partnership support in the embedding of work-based learning approaches, skills planning and market intelligence within UHI’s regional tertiary curriculum strategic and planning structures.
As Acting Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions, Matt is responsible for providing management support to the university’s Student Recruitment, Admissions and International Student Recruitment functions. As part of this Matt works closely across university and academic partner teams to support UHI’s broader approach to student recruitment, including with partnership leadership, faculty, curriculum planning, economic development, marketing and communications, finance and student records functions.
Matt has 25 years’ experience as a business professional across a variety of disciplines including leadership and governance, strategic and operational management and development, strategic marketing, marketing communications, market research and the building and managing of relationships. He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and PGCert in Business Administration.
