Entry requirements
- 3 Scottish Highers at grade C or above OR
- 2 A levels at grades C or above
Alternatively:
- Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration or Accounting
- Foundation Apprenticeship in Business Skills or Accounting plus 1 Higher at C
You must also be:
- at least 16 years of age
- employed in a business setting for a minimum of 21 hours per week and have approval of your employer prior to application
- resident in Scotland at the start of the GA and your employer’s working premises must also be located in Scotland
- Suitability for entry on to this course will be decided by your employer and your learning provider partner
Advanced entry
- Direct entry to year two may be possible with a relevant HNC
- Direct entry to year three may be possible with a relevant HND
- Applicants will be considered on an individual basis and may be required to complete an application for Recognition of Prior Learning

How will I study my course?
- Full-time
- This is a work-based qualification: learning happens in the workplace and is supported by day-release delivery, giving you time outside of your work environment to undertake certain elements of the course
- You will be taught via a combination of online tutorials and case studies, which will be contextualised to your practice. You will be supported by a mentor, with evidence from the workplace used in assessment
- You will study 2 modules at a time in each block. There will be a 2-hour remote class for each module on set days and times each week, which you will be expected to attend online
- Online study will be done via the university's virtual learning environment (VLE), with support from your tutors
- You will take part in a mandatory induction, either in-person at UHI Inverness or online, in the August before your course starts
How long will my course last?
- Full-time: 5 years @ 16 hours per week
This is a full-time work-based learning qualification. You will need to dedicate some time in addition to your paid working hours to gather work-based evidence, study via the VLE, and research information for the qualification.

Additional costs
As well as the modules listed, you must complete the ACCA module 'Ethics and Professional Skills'. Exemption cannot be granted for this module, so you will need to complete this directly with ACCA before commencing your studies at Level 10. There is a cost to this, please refer to ACCA guidelines for more information.
When applying to ACCA to become a fully qualified chartered accountant, fees will need to be paid for the exemptions gained throughout this qualification. This is standard practice for any application to meet Chartered status and full information on ACCA’s exemptions fees can be found on the ACCA Website.
What can I do on completion of my course?
Once you have successfully completed this course, you can continue to build your career and will be eligible to apply for membership with ACCA to become a fully qualified, chartered accountant.
Can I progress into further study?
You may wish to progress from this MA (Integrated) Accounting (Graduate Apprenticeship) to pursue a Doctorate of Business Administration or PhD Study.
