The event brought together outstanding electrical apprentices from seven colleges across the region, showcasing the future of the industry.

James Woodhouse, a Stage 1 apprentice representing UHI Perth, impressed judges with his technical skill and professionalism, securing first place in his category. James will now advance to the national finals, where he will compete against the top apprentices from the North and West regions for Gold, Silver, and Bronze titles in the Scottish-wide competition.

Also representing UHI Perth was Stage 2 apprentice Magnus MacKay, who delivered a strong performance and narrowly missed out on the top spot in his category.

The competition was attended by Fiona Harper, CEO of SECTT, who praised the high standard of work and the commitment shown by all participants.

UHI Perth has a proud tradition of excellence in electrical training. Notably, lecturer Scott McArthur earned Bronze in Stage 1 (2014) and Gold in Stage 2 (2015). Another long-serving lecturer, Ian Carling, won the East of Scotland title in 1983. Ian and a fellow lecturer George Mailer began their apprenticeships together in 1981, laying the foundation for decades of educational excellence.
